Claim under Nomination for deposits

  1. Claim Form (Form 1100): Duly signed by the nominee(s) or survivor(s). [Mandatory]
  2. Original Fixed Deposit Receipts: Required for term deposits. A duplicate must be provided if the original is lost. [Mandatory]
  3. Deceased’s Passbook: The passbook belonging to the deceased customer’s account. [Optional]
  4. Nominee Account Details: Proof of account for the credit of the claim amount (e.g., passbook copy, cancelled cheque, or account statement). [Optional]

Claim without Nomination for deposits: Claim upto threshold limit of Rs. 15 lakh

  1. Claim Form (Form NF1158): Duly filled and signed by the claimant(s), excluding those who have signed a letter of disclaimer. [Mandatory]
  2. Bond of Indemnity Annex VII (NF 1158/A): Signed by the claimant(s). [Mandatory]
  3. Legal Heir Verification: One of the following must be provided:
    • Legal Heir Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.
    • Declaration Annex IX (NF 1158/C) by an independent person well-known to the family, not party to the claim, and acceptable to the bank.

  4. Original Fixed Deposit Receipts: In case of term deposits. Duplicate receipts are required if originals are lost. [Mandatory]

If succession certificate submitted then

  1. Claim Form (Form NF 1158): Duly filled in and signed by the claimant(s), excluding those who have signed a letter of disclaimer/No Objection. [Mandatory]
  2. Succession Certificate: A copy of the Succession Certificate issued by a competent court. [Mandatory]
  3. Original Fixed Deposit Receipts: For term deposits. A duplicate must be provided if the original is lost. [Mandatory]
  4. Deceased’s Passbook: The passbook of the deceased customer’s account. [Optional]
  5. Claimant Account Details: Details of the account where the claim amount is to be credited (e.g., passbook, cancelled cheque, or account statement). [Optional]

If succession certificate not submitted

  1. Claim Form (Form NF 1158): Duly filled in and signed by the claimant(s), excluding those who have signed the letter of disclaimer/No Objection. [Mandatory]
  2. Bond of Indemnity Annex VII (NF 1158/A): Executed by the claimant(s). [Mandatory]
  3. Proof of Legal Heirship: One of the following must be provided:
    • Legal Heir Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.
    • Affidavit Annex IX (NF 1158/C) sworn before a Notary Public, Judge, or Judicial Magistrate by an independent person well-known to the family who is not a party to the claim.

  4. Bond of Surety Annex VII (NF 1158/A): From a third-party individual (may include non-claimant legal heirs acceptable to the bank and financially sound for the claim amount). [Mandatory]

Claim involving Will without any dispute

  1. Claim Form (Form NF 1158): Duly filled in and signed by the claimant(s), excluding those who have signed a letter of disclaimer/No Objection. [Mandatory]
  2. Copy of Will: The testament left by the deceased. [Mandatory]
  3. Beneficiary Documentation: Applicable documents must be obtained if the beneficiary is someone other than the legal heir. [Optional]
  4. Probate: Required if mandatory as per state law, or in the event of disputes regarding the Will. The bank may also request this to satisfy itself of the Will's genuineness. [Optional/Conditional]
  5. Supplementary Legal Documents:
    • Bond of Indemnity Annex VII (NF 1158/A): From the claimant(s) only; third-party surety not required. [Optional]
    • Letter of Disclaimer / No Objection Annex VIII (NF 1158/B): From non-claimant legal heir(s), if applicable. [Optional]

Cases involving Contesting Claim/ Dispute

  2. Applicable Claim Documents: All other standard documentation required based on the claim value (Thresholds of up to ₹15 Lakh or above ₹15 Lakh):
    • For claims up to ₹15 Lakh: Standard claim forms (NF 1158), Indemnity Bonds, and Heirship declarations as previously specified.
    • For claims above ₹15 Lakh: Enhanced documentation which typically includes mandatory Surety Bonds and higher scrutiny of legal heirship.
  3. Original Fixed Deposit Receipts: For term deposits. A duplicate is required if the original is lost. [Mandatory]
  4. Deceased’s Passbook: The passbook of the deceased customer’s account. [Optional]

In Case of Missing Person

Claim amount upto Rs. 1 Lakh

  1. Police/Court Documentation: A copy of the First Information Report (FIR) and a "Non-Traceable Report" issued by police authorities (in lieu of a death certificate), or a formal order from a competent court declaring the civil death of the account holder. [Mandatory]
  2. Standard Claim Documents (Upto ₹15 Lakh without Nomination):
    • Claim Form (NF 1158): Duly filled and signed by the claimant(s).
    • Bond of Indemnity Annex VII: Signed by the claimant(s).
    • Legal Heir Verification: Legal Heir Certificate OR Declaration Annex IX by an independent person known to the family.
    • Bond of Surety: From a third-party individual acceptable to the bank.
    • Letter of Disclaimer Annex VIII: Required from non-claimant legal heirs if there is more than one heir.
  3. Original Fixed Deposit Receipts: Required for term deposits. A duplicate is necessary if the original is lost. [Mandatory]
  4. Deceased’s Passbook: The passbook of the missing account holder’s account. [Optional]

Claim Amount more than Rs. 1 Lakh

  1. Court Order of Civil Death: A certified copy of the court order declaring the civil death of the account holder, provided in lieu of a death certificate. [Mandatory]
  2. Standard Claim Documents (Above ₹15 Lakh):
    • Claim Form (NF 1158): Duly filled and signed by all eligible claimants.
    • Bond of Indemnity Annex VII: Executed by the claimant(s).
    • Legal Heir Certificate: Issued by a Competent Authority (typically mandatory for higher value claims).
    • Bond of Surety: From a third-party individual(s) acceptable to the bank and solvent for the claim amount.
    • Letter of Disclaimer Annex VIII: From all non-claimant legal heirs.
  3. Original Fixed Deposit Receipts: For term deposits. A duplicate must be obtained if the original is lost. [Mandatory]

Claim under Nomination for Lockers/Safe Custody Article

  1. Claim Form (Form 1100): Duly signed by the nominee(s) or survivor(s). [Mandatory]
  2. Annex X (NF 1158/D): Inventory form and Acknowledgement specifically for Safe Deposit Lockers. [Mandatory]
  3. Annex XI (NF 1158/E): Inventory form for Articles held in Safe Custody. [Mandatory]

Claim without Nomination for lockers/Safe Custody Article

  1. Claim Form (Form NF 1158): Duly filled in and signed by the claimant(s), excluding those who have signed a letter of disclaimer/No Objection. [Mandatory]
  2. Proof of Legal Heirship: One of the following must be provided:
    • Legal Heir Certificate issued by a Competent Authority.
    • Declaration Annex IX (NF 1158/C) by an independent person well-known to the family, not a party to the claim, and acceptable to the bank.

COMMON DOCUMENTS FOR ALL TYPES OF CLAIMS:

  1. Death Certificate: A copy of the Death Certificate of the deceased depositor. [Mandatory]
  2. Officially Valid Documents (OVD): A copy of the OVD (e.g., Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID) of the claimant for identity and address verification. [Mandatory]
